Darel has served in a variety of positions in the financial services industry since 1994. Initially he worked with tax preparation and instruction then a few years later transitioned into investments as a financial advisor. Darel currently holds the Series 6, 7, 63, 65 registrations and Life and Long-Term Care insurance licenses. In 2011 and 2012, Darel received the FIVE STAR Weath Manager award as published in Richmond Magazine. Less than 7% of financial professionals in the Richmond Metro Area receive this impressive award for excellent customer service. He was recently promoted to First Vice President and selected to be a member of the RBC Wealth Management Portfolio Focus - Portfolio Manager Group, an exclusive company designation reserved for financial advisors who have achieved a high level of success in building fee-based discretionary portfolio management practices.
Darel has a Bachelor of Science in engineering from the United States Military Academy at West Point, and a Master of Arts in international studies from Indiana University. He served as a helicopter pilot and Russian linguist in the U.S. Army for 23 years, 12 years on active duty with the remainder in the Virginia Army National Guard. He retired from service with the rank of Major in 2005. Also in 2005 he received the John Sherman Leadership Award for serving in the National Guard while maintaining a full-time career as an investment advisor.
Darel is actively involved with several organizations outside of the work place to include the Greater Richmond Alliance (a group that supports Senior related issues), Employer Support of the Guard and Reserves (which promotes relations and recognizes support by American Employers for military service members), and Church of the Epiphany. He also periodically does the evening Stock Market Report for WCVE Richmond FM 88.9. His favorite activities include golfing, fishing, and skiing.

Before joining Ferris, Baker Watts — now RBC Wealth Management — in 2006, Crystal worked as a registered sales associate for Scott & Stringfellow, where she was the recipient of the Clients’ Choice Divisional and Associate of the Year awards in 2001 for exceptional service. In 2008, she was promoted to branch service manager of the Stony Point Richmond, VA branch at RBC Wealth Management and in 2010 and 2011 was a recipient of the annual Award of Excellence. Crystal currently holds the Series 7, 9/10, 63, 65 and Life and Health Insurance licenses. She is a native of the Richmond, VA area and resides in Chesterfield County with her husband. She enjoys cooking, especially baking, and loves to try new dishes.
